I have great news. Writer’s Digest revealed the cover of Putting the Science in Fiction yesterday. This anthology collects essays from Dan Koboldt’s blog series Science in Sci Fi, and I have two essays in the collection. Both essays have been expanded for this edition. I’m proud of the work that I’ve done here, and reading through the essays on Dan’s blog, this is great company to be in. I look forward to reading all the contributions to this book.
Collecting articles from editor Dan Koboldt’s popular blog series for writers and fans of speculative fiction—plus a foreword by Chuck Wendig (author of Damn Fine Story, Star Wars: Aftermath and more) and a collection of never-before-published articles—Putting the Science in Fiction connects you to experts in a broad range of fields. Scientists, engineers, medical professionals, tech experts and others share their insights in order to debunk the myths, correct the misconceptions, offer advice on getting the details right, and help writers create more realistic yet engaging stories to satisfy discerning readers.
I’ve known about this for a while, but it didn’t become real until the cover resolved. I’m excited for this to be out in the world. Dan has been great to work with through the whole process. It’s great to work with him; we originally met in a fiction writing class. Both of us were science fiction and fantasy fans; since then he’s published a completed fantasy trilogy, Gateways to Alissia. This fun trilogy satisfied, and I’m glad I got to review each book. If you’re a SFF fan, check out these books.
If you’re interested in writing science fiction, Putting the Science in Fiction is a resource to help you get the science correct.
