Well, it's been a slow year on the blog for me. I haven't been writing as much as normal, and it's been tough for me. A combination of changing roles at work, normal growth of parental duties, and some family developments has preempted my writing here on the blog. It's been frustrating for me because … Continue reading 2024 Blog Updates

Review: Justice is Coming
Justice is Coming by Cenk Uygur is a rare book by a politician. It's substantively filled with facts and analysis. It's a book that inspires conversation with its subject matter whether the reader agrees or disagrees. It will anger you. It will call you names. It will make you re-examine your own positions. Highly recommended.
Review: Speak of the Devil
Speak of the Devil by Rose Wilding is a hell of a ride. Her depiction of gaslighting is as devastating as it is accurate. Follow seven women as they try to figure out who among them killed the horrible man that connects them all together. Can they find the murderer before the police do? And if they find out who killed him, will they protect her? Highly recommended.
Review: The God of Endings
The God of Endings by Jacqueline Holland is a unique take on vampire stories. It's an existential novel pondering whether life is a blessing or a curse. This all too human portrait of Collette is wonderful. Highly recommended. I cannot recommend this book enough.
Review: The Tyranny of Faith
The Tyranny of Faith by Richard Swan continues the adventures of Sir Konrad Vonvalt and his retainers as they seek to save the Sovan Empire from itself. Highly recommended.
Review: Thinking 101
Dr. Woo-Kyoung Ahn's Thinking 101 teaches us how we make mistakes in our thought process through clear definitions and many pertinent, interesting examples. By putting into place her strategies for combating biases, maybe we can make ourselves a little better and find a little more grace and patience for others. Highly recommended.
Review: Putting the Fact in Fantasy
Putting the Fact in Fantasy contains 52 essays meant to help fantasy authors build believable worlds. This is an excellent resource that I'll use in my own writing.
